Happy new year friends!
Today is the start of a new week and new possibilities. I am excited to announce that I will be traveling to Taiwan in April for two weeks as part of a study abroad program through my university.
Every year there is an opportunity for senior interns to travel to Taiwan and intern for two weeks in a hospital setting to train and observe clinical practice.  I am raising funds to attend this trip, and have started a GoFundMe account. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated and I will be sending a thank you gift to supporters that provide their information.

This is my story:

My first experience with Acupuncture was when I became diagnosed with Lupus in 2007. I had been ill for months, before I finally figured out what was wrong with me.

Around the time I was diagnosed, my health was getting worse, I had quit my job, was in a huge amount of debt and I was basically drained by life. I fell into a very deep depression. I had no medical insurance and I felt my situation was hopeless.

I researched day and night on the disease; I'd read about people who took the medication prescribed by their doctors, only to find themselves getting worse by the side effects. I’d read about people that did nothing and died. It was scary, to say the least. My Kidneys were failing and the rheumatologist said I’d die if I didn’t start taking the medication he had prescribed.

Finally, after much research and coercing by my mother, I tried Acupuncture. I made an appointment with Michael Fox at Silverlake Acupuncture and from that first treatment, something in me changed forever.

I finally had faith that I would be able to feel better, every day…and I did.  Everyday was better than the last, and things just kept on improving, I couldn’t believe it. Acupuncture touched me deeply. I felt as though it was my mission to share my experience with the world…I felt that this was one secret everyone should know.

Career-wise, I was no longer feeling fulfilled with the 10-year run I had in the fashion industry. I knew this was my calling: to become an acupuncturist. I wanted to make people feel better, the way that I had felt better. I wanted to inspire others to have faith in healing again, because I had almost lost mine.

Today, my health has drastically improved. I’m probably the healthiest I have ever been. I still feel that same drive to inspire others, even just a fraction of what I have been inspired by the healers I have had the great fortune of meeting.

My passion and interest in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine run deep. I would love to delve further into the art of this medicine and be able to learn, observe and absorb as much as possible.

I feel that going on this trip will help to bring me closer to a more thorough and fundamental understanding of the medicine from a different perspective.

I find it particularly important to learn about the medicine directly from the source, and from a place that truly practices Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Your support is appreciated, every little bit helps.

Thank you so much for reading!
