The 3 step mechanism of an autoimmune condition and how to treat each step:

👉🏽Hypersensitive Immune System

👉🏽Fatigue

👉🏽Nervous System Dysregulation

The root cause of an autoimmune condition can be complex and different for each person.

Trauma, environmental toxins, hormones, lifestyle, self abandonment…the list goes on…

However, on a physiological level, it starts with a hyper-sensitive immune system.

Normally, your immune system fights off external pathogens like viruses and bacteria to keep you well.

In an autoimmune condition, the immune system is SO sensitive and gets easily triggered, like with allergies and asthma. Once this trigger goes off, your immune system is like an army of angry soldiers at war with your own body (sadly). It is so intent on defending, that it can’t tell the difference from foreign invaders (pathogens) and native substances (your own body tissue). It exaggerates. It goes too far and if feels like it’s too late to stop it when it’s flaring. This response can last days to weeks, months and even years!

This is why you feel swelling, heat, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, digestion discomfort and in its later stages organ decline and failure.

All this extra activity from the immune system being hard at work, causes A LOT of fatigue.

It is a fatigue that cannot be described unless you have been through it.

The energy just isn’t there because it is being used up for all that extra immune system chaos. The person is depleted. Exhausted. Cannot carry on. Wants to rest all day and night.

With all this back and forth, excess activity and low energy, the nervous system gets disrupted. There is a disconnect, a malfunction and the nervous system ends up dysregulated. Then the person feels anxious, depressed, emotionally out of control and confused. They may even be angry and lash out.

Wouldn’t you if you felt this crappy?

There are simple ways to address each step in this mechanism.

Here are my 3 favorite herbs for Autoimmune:

👉🏽Reishi

👉🏽Ginseng

👉🏽Ashwagandha

With an autoimmune condition, there is a lot of inflammation, the immune system is over active and working real hard, exaggeratedly so. The immune system is hyper sensitive.

We want the immune system to take a break! Reishi helps to strengthen your immune system so it is not so hypersensitive.

Reishi is like the big sister or abuelita that is coming over to your immune system with a big, warm hug and saying: “dude, chill…it’s OK"

Because of all this extra activity and the immune system being hard at work, there is a lot of fatigue. Your body is like: “OMG I am so tired because we’ve been working hard day and night and there’s all this chaos here”

So Ginseng is the fuel that is going to regenerate that good, good energy in your body, mind and spirit. It’s a root, so it is going to help GROUND you and energize you in a way that is balanced, like when a good man comes into your life and tells you: “I got you”

With all this back and forth, excess activity and low energy, the nervous system tends to get dysregulated. This is where Ashwagandha comes in to balance your nervous system. It also helps to strengthen your immune system so it is not so hypersensitive. This herb is also a root, but it is more balanced in nature and comes through with the light grounding and nourishment. This herb is like a strong and gentle abuelita that makes you some soup, gives you a hug and tells you to get back up.

Plants are your allies, you just need the right recommendations.

These 3 herbs are generally safe, but it is always best to consult with a professional herbalist or other herbal professional for your specific concerns and condition, as well as appropriate dosage.

Healing can be simple, you just need the right support.
